Here we are in Figueres – as you can see we’ve changed a bit on our trip☺!

Oh, okay – it’s not really us! We arrived in Figueres – land of the famous Dali museum – this afternoon. We discovered it is another of Spain’s many saint days! And we lucked into a great fiesta! It was a parade of giants! If I can get a good connection, I’m going to look up more about it. We tried to ask a few folks; but no one we asked spoke English. They speak Catalan here – many speak Spanish – but I didn’t even manage to find anyone who spoke that for an explanation. We did see a few giants on display in Barcelona – and were very excited to actually see a parade.

Here’s a few pictures of the parade – these guys with really loud muskets were at the start (even the policeman had to plug his ears).

And a few of the giants! After the parade, we found the square they were all going to where there was a book sale as well.

We enjoyed Barcelona – especially because family came to visit – but on arriving to our hotel in Figueres; we realized how noisy, big, stinky, etc. it was! We can hear birds here and the air is lovely!!

Our last day in Barcelona, yesterday, we went on a great wine tour for the day. We were 2 of just 6 Americans with an expat tour guide. We went to a large winery – Torres – that actually has a branch in Napa Valley, CA; and two other small places. We tasted some wonderful wines and cavas (good thing our luggage was full or we’d have several bottles in it!

Tomorrow we hope to get into the famous Dali Museum — we have to get up early to get online for tickets!
